Investițiile timpurii ale Microsoft în OpenAI, compania care a creat ChatGPT și a declanșat o cursă a „înarmării” cu instrumente de inteligență artificială (AI), pot părea astăzi o decizie evidentă, dar Satya Nadella, CEO-ul Microsoft, spune că la momentul respectiv Bill Gates considera mai degrabă că este un risc major, relatează Business Insider.
Microsoft a investit un miliard de dolari în OpenAI în anul 2019, la mai puțin de 4 ani de la înființarea acesteia. De atunci, compania fondată de Bill Gates a investit peste 13 miliarde de dolari în creatorul ChatGPT.
Totuși, Nadella a dezvăluit într-un interviu acordat emisiunii axate pe tehnologie TPBN că încheierea primei înțelegeri de investiții nu a fost deloc simplă.
„Chiar și la Microsoft trebuie să obții aprobarea Consiliului de Administrație ca să poți arunca așa, dintr-o dată, un miliard de dolari”, a spus Nadella. „Dar trebuie să recunosc că nu a fost foarte greu să convingem pe cineva că acesta este un domeniu important și că implică riscuri”, a continuat el.
