Peste 136.000 de cetățeni din afara UE aveau permise de ședere în scopul angajării în România la finele lunii august din acest an, majoritatea provenind din Nepal, Sri Lanka, Turcia, Moldova și India, iar doi din trei imigranți locuiesc în București, Ilfov, Constanța, Timiș și Cluj, arată un studiu realizat de Consiliul Economic și Social (CES). Imigranții vin aici pentru salarii mai bune decât în țările lor și văd România ca poartă de acces către alte țări ale UE, în timp ce firmele românești angajează masiv din Asia pentru a suplini lipsa de forţă de muncă.
Accesibilitatea relativă a proceselor de obținere a vizelor și avizelor de muncă din România, în comparație cu țările din Europa de Vest, face din România o destinație de intrare inițială sau pe termen mediu preferată, în special pentru migranții din Asia de Sud-Est, arată un studiu făcut public marți de Consiliul Economic și Social (CES).
